Automated Maintenance Systems provides high-quality contract cleaning services, thus relieving building managers from providing and managing their own janitorial operations. Services may include the cleaning and routine maintenance of all types of floors, walls, furniture, fixtures, windows, and public areas. In addition, special services such as window washing and carpet care, construction clean up, grounds maintenance, light bulb maintenance, and stripping of tile floors are also offered.

Each contract is tailored to customer specifications. This also dictates the cleaning schedules, number of workers, equipment, and supplies required for optimum performance. The clientele of the company includes banks, office buildings, federal government facilities, state office complexes, retail stores, and grocery stores. Automated Maintenance Systems is a member of the Building Service Contractors Association International and is affiliated with other organizations relevant to the building service industry.
Automated Maintenance Systems was incorporated in South Dakota in 1978. Charles J. Glood, Founder and President, began his career in Bismarck, ND as a janitor in 1973 while working through college. He rose through the ranks all the way to Chief Executive Officer.

Meet the CEO
Charles E. (Erik) Glood started at Automated Maintenance Systems, like his father, as a tile specialist while he attended Black Hills State University. In 2000, Erik was promoted to Special Projects Manager, overseeing the maintenance of several department stores for AMS, as well as post-construction clean-up, carpet steam cleaning, and tile maintenance projects.
In 2006, Erik was promoted to Sales Manager. In 2007, he was promoted to Vice President of Operations. Then in 2010, Erik was promoted to Chief Executive Officer and received part ownership of the company. As of 2021, Erik became the sole owner of Automated Maintenance Systems.
Erik prides himself on his first-hand knowledge of every duty he now oversees and looks forward to continuing the same spirit, ethics, and tradition that brought Automated Maintenance Systems through its first successful 48 years of operation.
